Edge Caching When Your Users Are Mostly Mobile
Field data from UK cohorts nudged us to rethink stale-while-revalidate defaults.
Core Web Vitals taught many teams to chase LCP, sometimes at the expense of freshness. In blended classes where learners check schedules between shifts, we see traffic spikes on patchy LTE more often than on office Wi-Fi.
We profiled a sample client site with Hyper Sys mentors and found aggressive edge caching improved LCP but surfaced stale pricing for nearly twelve minutes — unacceptable for a training provider advertising seat counts. The fix was not “turn off caching”; it was segmenting routes: marketing pages could stay warm while transactional pages carried shorter TTLs and explicit version keys.
Students document those decisions in release notes so support teams know what to expect when someone asks why a banner lagged. Transparency beats pretending edge networks are magic.
